The research focus of the NCSU Apiculture program is to further our understanding of honey bee biology and to better our ability of bee management. To accomplish these goals, we are involved in various experiments that range from highly technical and theoretical to very applied and useful for the average beekeeper. Our program serves the needs of the university and the general public by providing extension services and instruction built on a foundation of basic and applied research.
Our exciting new online system for training beekeepers at all levels. The entire BEES system is based on the Moodle instruction platform, so all video lectures, content, and quizzes can be taken directly online!
We offer an assortment of molecular tests to measure queen and colony health. This enables you to make rapid management decisions based on empirical results, taking some avoidable guesswork out of beekeeping.
